Castillo Javier

Javier is a small village on the east side of Navarra, 40 min from Pamplona. A castle was built there by the Javier's family.

It started on the X century with just a tall tower to see from far away. It had no purpose to become a home. Then it got expanded in the XII century with a courtyard around the tower, and again in the XIV to become a decent-size castle.

It actually has a very religious story, like everything in those days. Francisco Javier was born there in 1502 to become a missionary around the world, which took me everywhere in Europe, in India, Japan, and China, where he died. Interesting to have traveled so much at the time.
